THE EDEN TO ADDO ROUTE AND MAPS
The Eden to Addo - Great Corridor Hike is an 21 day cross-country endurance hike starting in the indigenous forests of Knysna and winding its way directly east towards Addo Elephant National Park.
This hike for biodiversity is over 400km in distance and links 7 different mountain groupings and crosses various rivers, enters wilderness areas and national parks, and takes in private farms on route to Addo. ![]() The hike begins at Kranshoek Viewsite deep in the Knysna forests where South Africa's last remaining free-roaming wild elephants still hide out. From there we walk into the back mountains of Plettenberg Bay and on into the Soetkraal area of the Tsitsikamma Mountains. From the north-end of Soetkraal we will enter the Langkloof valley and its apple farms. Meandering through various communities here we continue east into the Kougaberge to discover a number of abandoned farmsteads on route to the south-end of the Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area. Over a period of three days we will cross the Baviaanskloof to reach the foot of the Groot Winterhoek Mountains and enter the open plains of the Eastern Cape cradled by the Klein Winterhoek mountains in the north-east. The final stretch crosses various farms and meanders through small hills covered in aloes before crossing into Addo Elephant National Park itself. ![]() |
